Who is NAA-NT?

The National Autism Association of North Texas is a parent-run 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.  Founded in 2005, NAA-NT is the local chapter of NAA (National Autism Association). It is parent-run advocacy organization and the leading voice on urgent issues related to severe autism, regressive autism, autism safety, autism abuse, and crisis prevention in our North Texas community.

Memberships range from 25,000 email subscribers to 1.6 million online members via Facebook and related social networking groups nationwide.

What is your mission?

We have a mission of helping families, individuals and professionals dealing with Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD) through providing support, resources,  education and scholarships. All our funds are directed towards providing help to the local community.

How can I be involved with NAA-NT?

Any parent or caregiver of a child with autism can be involved with NAA-NT. In order to benefit from all our support services, you can visit our website and get information. You can also like our Face book page and stay connected with our activities. You can also be involved by volunteering at all our events and support group meetings.

What kind of research do you support?

While we believe genetic predispositions and susceptibilities play a role in the development of autism, the National Autism Association feels that environmental interactions play the larger role; therefore, our organization supports research that studies environmental triggers responsible for creating the tipping point in genetically susceptible children, as well as promising treatment options and issues relating to safety.

Will you promote my product?

NAA-NT typically does not promote or endorse products that are unapproved by the board of directors. For safety-related products, NAA-NT does not promote any vendor in exchange for a commission.

How do I get a grant for financial aid?

Can NAA-NT provide legal council or legal assistance?

Since NAA-NT is a parent-run advocacy organization, we cannot provide legal counsel or services. We are also unable to offer funding for legal assistance.  For special-needs law resources, visit www.texasprojectfirst.org, www.wrightslaw.com or www.disabilityrightstx.org. NAA-NT provides advocate scholarships for eligible families.

Can someone from NAA-NT attend my IEP meeting?

 To find a local advocate in your area, we recommend visiting  www.copaa.org. You can also find a list of parent advocates and attorneys in our NAA-NT parent resource packet.

 What is NAA’s position on vaccinations?

NAA believes that every parent has the right to research and educate themselves about all medical products, including vaccinations. Informed consent is critical and each parent should have the freedom and information necessary to make the best decision for their child. NAA cannot make this decision for any parent, but we are happy to provide sources of information to anyone in need. We recommend visiting http://nvic.org.
