Scholarships and Emergency Grants
A large portion of the donated funds at NAA-NT goes towards scholarships and grants benefiting children with autism. NAA-NT also awards emergency grants. For example, we were able to award over $8,000 to victims of Hurricane Harvey. This enabled families to stay in places more suitable for their children or buy emergency supplies and special diet foods.
NAA-NT provides scholarships for economically disadvantaged families for a variety of needs such as the purchase of homeschool curriculum, medical fees for biomedical interventions, advocacy, funeral services, emergency residence and co-pays for behavioral therapy.

”Some time ago, I found these amazing programs from Lindamood Bell, that were the first I have found to address teaching children with both hyperlexia and autism At age 9 and set to enter his 4th grade year in public school, we decided to take matters into our own hands and made the decision to homeschool our child using this amazing curriculum.
I began to research grants and message those in our amazing autism community, asking for advice… and my closest friend suggested that I reach out to the National Autism Association of North Texas. The National Autism Association of North Texas is amazing and provides genuine help and support to families living with autism, like our own. I know many of the moms personally that devote so much time and energy into helping others in our community, while living with autism in their own families. They certainly live up to this mission.
I received an e-mail that we were approved for the grant, within TWO-minutes of sharing our announcement to homeschool, and I just sat there and looked at it with tears in my eyes.
Fast-forward two-months, to today. Sam has already made TREMENDOUS progress in both Math and Reading comprehension with this curriculum, and has been using more spontaneous language, following more verbal directions and communicating more comprehension to us!
To the National Autism Association of North Texas: A thousand and one THANK YOU’s to everyone on the board of NAA-NT for helping us to say with confidence, that we not only found the BEST programs for Sam, but that we HAVE the best programs for Sam.

”Michael has been afforded few opportunities in his life. He is a loving, caring, outgoing and smart young boy with so much untapped potential. Prior to learning about NAA-NT grant, I was unsure how our family was going to find the max out of pocket for Michael’s medical coverage. His coverage is essential because it has covered ABA therapy. It is important to know that Michael was completely non- verbal until he was four and a half years old. I can truly say without the generosity of NAA-NT I don’t know how our family would have accessed the necessary treatment for Michael. We are so thankful for all their help and cannot say enough praise about the organization and what they do for our children. Thank you for your kindness, and being their for us when we needed you most.

” We used the NAA-NT scholarship to have an advocate attend our annual ARD for 2016-2017 school year. Ricky was just beginning his behavior decline that lasted
almost a year. We were very close to losing our placement and being placed
in a behavior unit. Adina helped me to realize that to be an effective
advocate you have to ask for what your child needs and be willing to speak
up, when necessary-- how to be assertive, but not aggressive. We are so
grateful for that learning process and feel indebted to NAA-NT for their
generosity. Thank you!!!

”I highly recommend NAA-NT organization for their outstanding services and the financial help for education which is being offered for thousands of students. I express my sincere gratitude to the management and service executives who are associated with the National Autism Association of North Texas (NAA-NT) for advocating the families and individuals affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD).
