Annual conferences
NAA-NT hosts educational conferences providing awareness, training and CEUs to teachers and paraprofessionals. Our speakers at these conferences have trained teachers and paraprofessionals in the public and private school sectors, as well as those working in therapy centers. Topics of training have included Teaching positive behaviors and social skills to adolescents and preteens with ASD, Using specialized tools to understand behaviors and design comprehensive plans,
Monthly speaker meetings
Monthly speakers include experts on autism from the local community. Some of the topics we cover are speech, behavioral therapy, occupational therapy, functional medicine, insurance, trusts and guardianship, IEPs and IDEA and sibling advice.
First responder training
NAA-NT participates in the police academy and Plano PD police and emergency personnel training by participating in a panel that educates them on autism and gives them an inside view of our children, how to communicate with them, and how to help them.
